The title,  A Thin Place, refers the “thin places” of Celtic spirituality. Thin places are doorways between the everyday world and the world of the spirit: any location where the veil between the physical and the metaphysical is lifted enough that someone might pass back and forth between them.

In this small suite of mezzotints and the related series of paintings The Veil Between a massive granite breakwater becomes a metaphor for the intersection of two worlds. A world where the power of nature confronts the hopeful yet ultimately fragile attempt by mankind to protect itself.

John Petcoff of Lennox Contemporary, Toronto says of the series, A Thin Place, “The breakwater is revealed in a series of lush mezzotints. Perfect size, intimate and mysterious the prints offer a light forged perspective, completing a classic, elemental expression of the landscape.”

In May 2009 “A Thin Place I” received an honourable mention from Open Studio’s National Printmaking Awards
